Storms of 2013 - Jeff Frame

Ordinary Kansas Convection

Wind shear was weak across Kansas on June 7, 2013, which prevented the development of organized, sustained, updrafts. After watching two updrafts dissipate while en route, we managed to observe this updraft from the north, during its mature phase. The hail and rain shafts descending through the center of the updraft implies this storm will likely not last very long. Taken north of Cimarron, Kansas.
