Storms of 2013 - Jeff Frame
November 17, 2013

November 17, 2013

November 17, 2013, was a High Risk day with a 30% hatched tornado risk over Central Illinois. I was never enthusiastic about chasing this, owing to the highway-speed storm motions and numerous storm interactions, but did anyway. We initially targeted a discrete supercell near Bloomington, IL, which, although producing the largest hail of the way, never produced a tornado. At this time, we were trying in vain to keep up with the storm, but called the chase soon after as vigorous convection fired to our west along the flanking line. A wall cloud is visible to the left of the power pole. Taken near Cooksville, Illinois.
